Finn Inglethorpe officially signs for Liverpool

Liverpool FC have officially confirmed that Finn Inglethorpe has signed a new deal with the club.

Liverpool have quietly continued with another piece of their long‑term squad planning.

In a summer where big‑money names and first‑team headlines will dominate the agenda, Anfield’s decision‑makers are also making sure the next wave of attacking talent is locked in and developing on Merseyside rather than elsewhere.

Micky van de Ven’s availability has been alerted to Liverpool and the Tottenham Hotspur star could be on the agenda in the summer.

Further forward, there’s lots of news related to RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, but the Ivory Coast international has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford with Manchester United.

With that in mind, and keeping in line with a longer term Liverpool FC strategy, The Reds are always at the forefront of getting their transfer business done today.

And the club have already announced the signing of a forward committing their future to Merseyside.

It is all part of a broader Academy strategy that has seen Liverpool invest heavily in Kirkby and consistently promote youngsters into the senior picture in recent years.

This time the latest deal concerns a player Reds supporters are only just starting to hear more about.

Liverpool have officially announced that 17‑year‑old striker Finn Inglethorpe has signed his first professional contract with the club.

A centre‑forward by trade, Inglethorpe has been on Liverpool’s books since pre‑Academy level and is currently part of the U18s group, where his pace and eye for goal have already made him a useful option in attack.

“Finn Inglethorpe has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool FC,” a Liverpool statement on the official website read.

“The 17-year-old from Wirral has been with the club since pre-Academy level and started as a first-year scholar at the beginning of this season.”

“Blessed with pace and natural finishing, the forward has scored five goals and recorded five assists for Simon Wiles’ U18 squad in 2025-26.”

“An England youth international, Inglethorpe scored on his U18s debut away at Stoke City back in August and netted on his first appearance for the U21s too, in a friendly against Preston North End in November.

“He also appeared twice for the U19s in this season’s UEFA Youth League”.

For those unaware, Finn Inglethorpe is also the son of Academy director Alex Inglethorpe, a key figure behind Liverpool’s youth‑development success over the last decade.

While not expected to challenge for the first team any time soon, Inglethorpe committing his future to the club is a good sign that Liverpool are looking to secure the future of their brightest talent.

With the future of Joshua Abe still unclear, at least one youngster has confirmed that he’s going to be at the club for the foreseeable future.
