The Minnesota Vikings have officially received an additional draft pick for losing quarterback Sam Darnold to Seattle last offseason.
Compensatory picks for the 2026 draft were awarded by the NFL on Monday, with the Vikings receiving the top comp pick at 97th overall.
That means the Vikings now have seven picks in the 2026 draft and four in the top 100 picks:
Rd 1, 18th Overall
Rd 2, 49th Overall
Rd 3, 82nd Overall
Rd 3, 97th Overall
Rd 5, 163rd Overall
Rd 6, 196th Overall
Rd 7, 234th Overall
The draft will take place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
It’s an important offseason for the Vikings, who are expected to lose several veteran players and need to fill multiple holes at key spots.

On Monday, the NFL negotiation window, allowing teams and free agents to start working on deals. The new league year starts Wednesday afternoon, which is when deals will be able to become official.
Facing significant salary cap constraints, the Vikings aren’t expected to be very active in free agency, which will make the draft even more important. However, the team did sign a cornerback on Monday, although Minnesota also lost receiver Jalen Nailor and punter Ryan Wright.
