Ex-Chelsea captain John Terry believes his former club are fortunate to have someone like Joao Pedro in their first-team squad.
The Blues paid Brighton £60m for the Brazilian international last summer, and he has been in excellent scoring form. Terry says his goal output has been especially noteworthy:
“We are very lucky to have him. He’s scoring goals but the variety of goals he scores, he scores goals with his left foot, he scores goals with his head. He shows great composure one-on-one, where he does that little dink over goalkeepers as well. I think goals has to be at the forefront of every striker’s mind as well, and he’s only going to add to that as the season moves on in the league, the FA Cup and also the Champions League.
Terry has also been impressed with Pedro’s work in build-up play, and he even compared him to fellow Chelsea legend Didier Drogba:
“I think his link-up play has been excellent as well, it’s got better and better week after week and that’s only going to grow and improve as he grows and gets a little bit older. It just enables you to hit him. We had the same when Didier played as well. You can hit him when you’re under a little bit of pressure and get yourself up the pitch and in the opposition half.”

Pedro’s record this season
The 24-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided 9 assists in 39 appearances for the Blues since the 2025/26 campaign kicked off back in August.
Pedro is averaging a goal contribution every 1.44 matches or every 104 minutes in all competitions, which puts him up there with the elite forwards in European football.
Rosenior’s arrival at Chelsea has proven to be important
It is notable that Pedro’s goal return has improved markedly following Liam Rosenior’s appointment at the turn of the year.
In the 13 games the Brazilian has featured in since the new manager took charge, he has found the back of the net 10 times.
