Liverpool are keeping tabs on Yan Diomande’s situation at RB Leipzig with Premier League rivals stepping up their pursuit.

Last summer the Premier League saw a European invasion with a host of strikers crossing the Channel to earn their living in the land of milk and honey.

This summer, it looks like clubs in England’s top flight are going to be adding even more goals and assists, but this time in wide areas. There are several names doing the rounds with one name in particular catching the eye of those with title aspirations at home and abroad. With 11 goals and seven assists, RB Leipzig’s maverick winger Yan Diomande has lit up the Bundesliga despite not yet leaving his teenage years.

Liverpool rivals scout Yan Diomande

There have been reports that Diomande is a Liverpool fan through his old man and that a deal has already been agreed behind the scenes for the Ivory Coast international, although nothing concrete has ever been announced. What could be a key factor in the pursuit of his signature is the race for Champions League football.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Man United scouted his recent goal-scoring performance against Augsburg and that the Old Trafford outfit are keen on the young winger, via his YouTube channel: "Man United are probably going to look for left wingers in the market. Yan Diomande has been on their radar for the last six months, but he's not the only one. There are several options under consideration." As with Liverpool, United appear to have a list of names, but Diomande is likely to be at the top for both of them, even if there is an £87m release clause.

What have RB Leipzig said about Diomande exit

Leipzig managing director Marcel Schafer understands how the market works, but has hinted that the Germans won’t be easy to deal with, via Get Football News Germany: “It’s our aim to keep players with us for more than a year, otherwise you can’t achieve consistency. Consistency is a difficult word in football anyway, but I think we can all agree that if you’re together for two or three years these days, you can already talk about consistency. That has to be our goal as RB Leipzig, always aware that we still depend on transfer revenue.

“Last summer was all about going “back to our roots” and acting accordingly. We signed players who weren’t the most well-known in the football world at first glance, but we want to make them the most well-known. Of course, we want to stay with players for longer than just a year because we have goals and ambitions. A complete overhaul every year – that won’t work.”
