Real Madrid interested in doing transfer deal with Arsenal for£60M star

Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a move for Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly as part of their long-term squad planning, with Spanish outlet Fichajes

claiming the Premier League club could be open to letting the young left-back leave this summer.

The report suggests the Spanish giants have identified the 19-year-old as a player who fits their recruitment strategy of targeting elite young talent across Europe. Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is said to have placed Lewis-Skelly on the club’s radar as they look to strengthen their defensive options in the coming transfer windows.

Lewis-Skelly is widely regarded as one of the most promising products to emerge from *ARSENAL*’s Hale End academy in recent years. The England international, who plays primarily as a left-back but is also capable of operating in midfield, made his first-team breakthrough during the 2024–25 season after progressing through the club’s youth ranks.

Despite that early breakthrough, his role in the squad has become less certain this season. Increased competition in Arsenal’s defensive positions has limited his opportunities, with the youngster reportedly falling behind other options in the left-back pecking order under Mikel Arteta.

According to reports cited in Spain, Real Madrid believe the situation could create an opportunity to lure him to the Santiago Bernabéu. The La Liga side view Lewis-Skelly as a versatile defender with significant long-term potential, and they are monitoring his development closely while considering whether to make a formal approach.

The potential transfer has also been linked to Arsenal’s broader financial and squad strategy. Some reports suggest the Gunners could consider several sales in order to fund new arrivals and balance the books ahead of another ambitious summer in the transfer market.

Former ARSENAL figures have also suggested a departure could be possible if the teenager continues to struggle for consistent playing time. With limited minutes this season and strong competition for places, a move elsewhere could provide the regular first-team opportunities that are crucial at this stage of his development.

Nevertheless, ARSENAL previously demonstrated their faith in the defender by tying him down to a long-term contract that runs until 2030, underlining how highly he is rated within the club.

For now, Real Madrid’s interest remains at the rumour stage and no official negotiations have been confirmed.

However, with the Spanish giants continuing to track emerging talent across Europe, Lewis-Skelly’s future could become one of the more intriguing storylines as the summer transfer window approaches.
