Spanish Giants will let 27-year old Chelsea target leave end of season

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin could be set for a summer transfer battle as interest from Chelsea and Inter Milan continues to grow, according to sources close to ICFootballNews.

The Ukrainian international has impressed whenever called upon for Real Madrid, but his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu remains uncertain due to the presence of first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Reports suggest that Madrid would be open to listening to offers for the stopper if a suitable bid arrives, particularly with Lunin keen to play regular first-team football during what should be the peak years of his career.

Despite spending much of his time as Courtois’ understudy since joining Madrid in 2018, Lunin has demonstrated his quality whenever he has stepped into the side. His performances during periods when Courtois was unavailable earned praise from fans and pundits alike, with the Ukrainian showing sharp reflexes, composure under pressure and strong distribution.

That form has reportedly alerted both CHELSEA and Inter Milan, who are assessing their goalkeeping situations ahead of the next transfer window.

Chelsea’s interest is perhaps the most intriguing. The London club has rotated between several goalkeeping options in recent seasons, with questions occasionally raised about long-term stability in the position. Bringing in a keeper like Lunin — who has experience at one of the biggest clubs in world football — could offer competition and potentially a new first-choice option.

From a tactical standpoint, Lunin could suit the style Chelsea are trying to implement. The goalkeeper is comfortable playing out from the back, a requirement for modern Premier League sides, and he has proven capable of performing in high-pressure matches.

His shot-stopping ability, particularly in one-on-one situations, would also translate well to the fast-paced nature of English football.

However, CHELSEA would need to consider whether Lunin is ready to be an undisputed No.1. While he has shown flashes of top-class ability, he has not yet had a prolonged run as a starter at an elite club. That lack of consistent game time is the biggest question mark surrounding his potential move.

For Inter Milan, the situation is slightly different. The Italian side often recruits experienced goalkeepers capable of competing immediately in Serie A and European competitions, and Lunin’s exposure to Champions League football could make him an appealing option.

Ultimately, if Real Madrid do decide to sell, Lunin could become one of the most interesting goalkeeper names on the market.
