Othmane Maamma, a 20-year-old forward from Watford, is making waves in the football world. His impressive performances at the Under-20 World Cup and in the Championship online have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.
Maamma joined Watford from French club Montpellier during the summer transfer window last year. Since breaking into the team in November, he has consistently impressed with his performances. In December alone, he registered three goals and an assist in the Championship. This form reportedly prompted scouts from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle to watch him in action.
Scouts were reported to have attended Watford’s 3-0 win over Birmingham on New Year’s Day, where Maamma played for 70 minutes before being substituted. His performance in this match further solidified his reputation as a rising star in the football world.
Born in France in 2005, Maamma represents Morocco on the international stage. His performances at last year’s Under-20 World Cup earned him the Golden Ball, an award given to the tournament’s best player.
During the tournament, Maamma registered a goal and four assists, leading Morocco to victory. He also captained his country for the round-of-16 and quarter-final games.

Besides Liverpool, United, and Newcastle, scouts from Brighton, Brentford, and Sunderland were also present for the game at Vicarage Road.
Maamma is proficient with both feet, making him an effective player off either flank. Despite arriving at Watford for just over $1 million last year, his current form and potential would certainly command a fee several times higher were he to depart the club this year.
