When the Denver Nuggets returned to the court on Monday, March 9, to face the Oklahoma City Thunder, the availability of Jamal Murray leading up to the game was a major question mark.
Nobody knew for sure if the star sharpshooter would get a chance to play. The Nuggets shockingly listed him as questionable after his scare during the March 6 game against the New York Knicks.
“They’re going to check on it [on Saturday]. It’s really sore,” Nuggets head coach David Adelman said after the game last Friday.
“You guys all know Jamal. When he sprains his ankle, he usually comes back and plays. This has just been insane. Every time we get somebody back, I feel like that game, somebody else goes out. It has nothing to do with the game; it’s just the way it’s been. Whatever group we have that is healthy for OKC, whatever the minute restrictions are, and all of the excuses, we just have to play a hell of a lot better.”

Just as Adelman suspected, Murray was back on the floor on Monday night. He didn’t plan to miss any action after a scare against New York.
Following the loss against the Thunder, Murray suggested that his recent setback is nothing to worry about.
“It’s okay,” Murray told reporters with a smile.
“I just want to be on the court. I want to be playing, especially in a game like this, where there’s going to be high intensity and guys playing as hard as they did. I want to be out there as well. So, I’m glad I was able to push through.”
Murray checked in for 36 minutes against the Thunder. He took a high volume of shots (23), struggling from three. Murray missed all four of his shots from beyond the arc and went 9-23 from the field.
The Nuggets’ star finished the game with 21 points. Murray also produced eight rebounds, six assists, and one block.
For the second-straight game, the Nuggets came up short. Nikola Jokic put together an MVP-worthy triple-double showing, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder came out on top with a 129-126 win. With that loss, the Nuggets dropped to 39-26 on the season. They remain sixth in the Western Conference, trailing the Los Angeles Lakers by 0.5 games.

Murray played a full shift against the Thunder. He didn’t look to be dealing with any further setbacks on the court, and didn’t suggest he was in bad shape after the game.
The veteran forward will still be closely monitored moving forward, but there seems to be a strong chance he’ll be able to stay on the court, barring any further setbacks.
The Nuggets are set to host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. The game tips off at 10 PM ET.
