Two Gamecocks find new NFL homes on Monday

On Monday, two former South Carolina players reportedly found new NFL homes as free agency is underway. Although players can't sign until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, teams can still contact and enter contract negotiations with agents.

According to multiple reports, defensive end Kingsley Enagbare has agreed to a one-year, $10 million contract with the New York Jets while running back Rico Dowdle is signing a two-year, $12.25 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After being picked by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Enagbare spent the last four seasons with the club. In those four seasons, the former Gamecocks' EDGE totaled 146 tackles with 25 being for loss and 11.5 sacks in 68 games played.

In the last two seasons, Enagbare was credited with a combined 78 tackles with 12 being for loss and 6.5 sacks. His best performance statistically this season came against the Arizona Cardinals, when he logged five tackles with two being for loss and 0.5 sack. He also recorded a five tackle performance against the Baltimore Ravens in late December.

After spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, Dowdle suited up for the Carolina Panthers this past season. The 2024 and 2025 campaigns have been Dowdle's best as he's eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing in both seasons. In 2024, which was his final season with the Cowboys, Dowdle rushed for 1,079 yards and two touchdowns while being on the receiving end of 39 passes for 249 yards and three scores.

In his one season with the Panthers, Dowdle shined as he tallied 1,076 yards and six touchdowns on the ground while recording 39 receptions for 297 yards and a touchdown.

The former Gamecocks' running back rushed for over 100 yards in three games this season with his season high coming against the Miami Dolphins, when he rushed for 206 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries.
