Patriots trade rumors could lead to blockbuster deal with Eagles or Saints

The New England Patriots are actively searching for a wide receicer after cutting ties with Stefon Diggs, and it sounds like the team could have their eyes on making a trade with an NFC team to address the need.

NFL insider Josina Anderson believes the Patriots are still a potential fit for Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver A.J. Brown, but New England also has New Orleans Saints' standout playmaker Chris Olave on their radar.

"Other WR names have come up in New England, as a matter of discussion with sources around the league, like Chris Olave & Romeo Doubs, but how do they compare as a fit for the Patriots to AJ Brown?" Anderson said.

The Patriots have long been linked as a possible trade partner for Brown, especially given his connection to head coach Mike Vrabel during their time with the Tennessee Titans.

However, if New England can't land Brown, pursuing Olave in a trade with New Orleans would be a solid backup plan.

Olave had a career year in 2025 with 100 receptions for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns. The Ohio State product is one of the most underrated receivers in the sport, and could step in as a legitimate No. 1 option for quarterback Drake Maye with the Patriots.

New England has the draft capital to pull off a trade for Olave, but it all depends on whether New Orleans wants to move their star receiver. With Olave being just 25 years old and ascending, it's hard to envision a scenario in which the Saints trade him, but we've seen crazier moves happen in the NFL.
