Fabrizio Romano confirms Manchester United scouting mission for Liverpool target

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United and Liverpool may go a head-to-head in the transfer market this summer.

Last summer, fresh from ending a 5-year wit for another league title, Liverpool felt like the centre of the transfer-market universe.

And it showed with the likes of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, and Hugo Ekitike all jumping at a chance to join Arne Slot’s project. Fast forward a year and the landscape is a little different; Liverpool are still a huge draw, but the Reds perhaps do not hold quite the same sway they did in the immediate afterglow of that triumph.

At the same time, Manchester United have quietly shown they do not need Champions League football to tempt high‑level targets.

The arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo last summer underlined that players are still prepared to buy into the project at Old Trafford, even without the lure of midweek European glamour.

This season, with Michael Carrick’s side now looking well placed to secure a top‑four finish, United suddenly have both the pull of their badge and the platform of Champions League football to put on the negotiating table.

And it seems that England’s biggest two clubs may go a head-to-head this summer for Yan Diomande – whom Liverpool are keen on.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romao reported that Manchester United scouts were recently at a RB Leipzig game to watch the 19-year-old talent:

“Michael Carrick confirmed that Manchester United are going to be looking for a left-winger in the summer market.”

“One of the players that always been on the radar at United for the last six months is Yan Diomande, who is also in the radar of several clubs.”

“So there is going to be a lot of movement around Diomande. Manchester United scouts were in attendance for the last game played by RB Leipzig against Augsburg,”

“The presence of Manchester United shows they are keeping a close eye on the player. He’s not the only option, they have several on the list for the left-wing position.”

“Remember they wanted Semenyo in the January window, but for sure United are keeping a close eye on Diomande’s situation.”

Meanwhile, reports in Germany have suggested that RB Leipzig will be open to a sale in the summer, meaning the situation is definitely one to watch come May.
