Haaland starts, Cherki call: Man City predicted line up vs Real Madrid - gallery

Erling Haaland could be handed a start as Manchester City travel to face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie in midweek.

The Norwegian striker was rested for the FA Cup victory over Newcastle at the weekend, but has been included in the travelling squad for the trip to the Spanish capital on Wednesday night. City have already beaten Madrid away from home this season and will hope to do the double to boost their chances of reaching the quarter-final stage.

Pep Guardiola could recall several players who dropped out of the starting line up against Newcastle and could largely revert to his strongest possible side. Here is how we think City should line up against Real Madrid.

Donnarumma is the man for the big occasion and is certain to start in goal.
