LOS ANGELES -- Luka Doncic has been fined $50,000 for directing an "inappropriate and unprofessional gesture" toward a referee during the Los Angeles Lakers' 110-97 win over the New York Knicks, the NBA announced Tuesday.

With 4:35 remaining in the third quarter Sunday, Doncic attempted to draw a charge on Knicks forward Mohamed Diawara but was whistled for a blocking foul.

While Doncic was on the floor after absorbing the contact from Diawara, Doncic rubbed his fingers together -- making a money gesture -- as he looked at official Tre Maddox.

Doncic has had frequent run-ins with league officials this season, receiving 15 technical fouls called against him in 52 games played. If he receives a 16th tech, he will have to serve a one-game suspension.
