As the Philadelphia 76ers enter the second night of their back-to-back set on Tuesday, the team is set to face the Memphis Grizzlies.

There is hope from the 76ers that the young star rookie, VJ Edgecombe, can get back out on the floor after missing some time with a back injury. However, the Sixers’ initial injury announcement for Edgecombe sprinkles in doubt.

According to the injury report, the Sixers are listing Edgecombe as questionable for the outing. He could be a game-time decision, which would be a positive development for the young guard, whether he’s ruled out or not.

When the Sixers approached their Monday night outing against the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 9, Edgecombe was ruled out hours in advance. Eventually, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse spoke on the young star’s status going ahead.

“There is [optimism he could return soon],” Nurse told reporters via Sixers Wire. “He was on court again today, yeah. So, he’s literally day-to-day, and there is hope that he’ll be ready to go very soon.”

Will he be ready for Tuesday? The Sixers will have answers in due time. For now, they have to hope that his pregame workouts don’t result in any setbacks. They could really use the help, even against a depleted Memphis Grizzlies team.

The 76ers Have A Loaded Injury Report

GettyVJ Edgecombe is on the 76ers’ injury report again for Tuesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Outside of Edgecombe, the only player on the report with a chance to play is Kelly Oubre. While Oubre is monitoring a knee injury that has affected him throughout the year, he’s available to play on Tuesday.

Beyond that, everybody else listed will get the night off.

Joel Embiid is still dealing with an oblique strain. When he received an update late last week, it was clear that the veteran center would be sidelined for at least four games.

As for Tyrese Maxey, he’s dealing with an injured finger. The Sixers ruled out the two-time All-Star for the next two games. He will get re-evaluated sometime between Tuesday and the next outing later this week.

The other rookie, Johni Broome, is recovering from knee surgery, while the veteran star, Paul George, is serving a suspension.

Since Edgecombe has gone down, the Sixers are 1-3. He played in just 19 minutes during the San Antonio Spurs loss, and missed games against the Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, and the Cavaliers.

The Sixers will look to get back on track when they tip off at 7 PM ET against the Grizzlies.
