In a rough stretch of games that has taken place since early February. Injuries have been a main topic throughout the past two seasons for the Philadelphia 76ers.
This is the same conversation that’s taking place late in the 2025-26 regular season. Philadelphia’s been without its three highest-paid players in Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George. While George continues to serve his 25-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy, injury updates to Embiid and Maxey have been provided.
Joel Embiid (Oblique) and Tyrese Maxey (Finger) Among 76ers Ruled Out vs. Grizzlies
In the latest NBA injury report, the 76ers ruled out Joel Embiid (oblique strain), Tyrese Maxey (finger sprain), and Johni Broome (right knee surgery) for Tuesday night’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.
VJ Edgecombe (lumbar contusion) is listed as questionable for the matchup. His status will be updated closer to tip-off.
Kelly Oubre Jr. (left knee) is listed as available after playing just 14 minutes in Philadelphia’s 115-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.
Embiid, 31, will miss his seventh straight game after suffering an oblique strain in the 76ers’ Feb. 26 win over the Miami Heat. ESPN noted that he would miss at least three games with the setback, but CBS Sports’ Noah Levick revealed that he will be re-evaluated later this week.
Maxey, 25, suffered a right finger sprain in Saturday’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks. His initial timeline revealed that he will miss at least two games. With his second straight absence to be on Tuesday, the All-Star guard will have a chance to return when the 76ers travel to Detroit to take on the top-seeded Pistons on March 12.
Tuesday will be the 18th game George has missed after getting suspended on Jan. 31. He will be eligible to return when Philadelphia takes on the Chicago Bulls on March 25.
How the 76ers’ Lineup has Looked Without Their Superstars
The 76ers were without Embiid, Maxey, George, and Edgecombe in Monday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Head coach Nick Nurse went 12 deep in this game, with six players seeing at least 20 minutes. Quentin Grimes led Philadelphia in scoring with 27 points while shooting 6-13 from the field. This was followed up by Justin Edwards (14 points) and Cameron Payne (12 points).
Despite shooting 46% from the field as a team in the loss, Philadelphia struggled from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line. The 76ers shot just 29% (11-38) from three-point range and 67% (12-18) from the line.
They will look to lean on their role players once again on Tuesday as they take on a Grizzlies team that’s lost four straight and currently sits as the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference.
As for the 76ers, they have fallen out of playoff contention in the Eastern Conference and are currently a play-in team at the No. 8 seed. Despite their recent stretch of losses, they are just 1.5 games behind the Orlando Magic for the final postseason spot.
