Liam Rosenior was not prepared to give any early indications as to who will start in goal for Chelsea against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

Robert Sanchez has been the undisputed No1 at the club throughout this season under both Rosenior and his predecessor Enzo Maresca, but last week was dropped in favour of Filip Jorgensen for the huge Premier League clash away to Aston Villa.

It ended up proving a key win to lift the mood at Chelsea, as Joao Pedro scored a hat-trick in a clinical 4-1 win at Villa Park.

Sanchez then played in the FA Cup fifth-round match away to Wrexham on Saturday, which many took to indicate he has been dropped in the longer-term and that Jorgensen could get another prestige fixture between the sticks in Wednesday’s Champions League round of 16 first leg at the Parc des Princes.

When asked whether he would reveal which of Sanchez or Jorgensen will start against PSG, Rosenior smiled and said: “No, of course not.”

It is widely felt at Chelsea that Sanchez’s best performance for the club since his August 2023 move from Brighton came against PSG in last summer’s Club World Cup final. Chelsea won the match 3-0 to secure the trophy, with Sanchez picking up the Golden Glove for best goalkeeper at the tournament.

But the Spaniard is under pressure to start against the reigning European champions on Wednesday.
