Eagles Showing Interest in Potential AJ Brown Replacement

The Philadelphia Eagles have to make a decision about AJ Brown’s future.

The New England Patriots moved on and agreed to terms with Green Bay Packers free agent WR Romeo Doubs, so even though they might continue their unsuccessful pursuit of Brown, they may not be as all-in as they once were.

As such, the Eagles may have no choice but to come to terms with the idea of parting ways with Brown while they still have some leverage.

That’s why they might already be doing their due diligence on a potential replacement. According to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles are hosting Indiana star WR Omar Cooper Jr. for a top 30 visit:

"Source: The Philadelphia Eagles will host Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr for a (Top) 30 visit," Fowler shared on his X account on Tuesday. "One of the premier wideouts in the class could be a target at 23."

Cooper was instrumental in helping projected No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza lead the Indiana Hoosiers to an undefeated season and their first-ever national championship.

Standing at 6-foot and 199 pounds, he dominated in the slot with 69 catches for 937 yards and 14 total touchdowns. Like Brown, he’s a physical player who makes the most of his strength and athleticism to create separation, and while he did most of his damage in the slot, he can also play outside.

The Eagles won’t give up Brown without a fight, even though he may not want to be there anymore. That said, GM Howie Roseman knows he needs to have a backup plan.

DeVonta Smith has the makings of a WR1 and can break out if given more touches. And pairing him with a physical slot specialist like Cooper Jr. might make losing Brown a whole less painful.
