Micky van de Ven has quickly become one of the most important players in the Tottenham Hotspur squad this campaign. However, after being sent off against Crystal Palace in his most recent outing, fans have expressed frustration with the talented Dutch defender.
Liverpool are already beginning to shape their transfer plans ahead of the summer, regardless of whether Arne Slot remains in charge. The Reds may need a ready-made replacement for Ibrahima Konate next season as uncertainty continues to surround the defender’s future.
Meanwhile, captain Virgil van Dijk has endured a dip in form, while Giovanni Leoni is yet to return from injury. Ex-Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah has been linked with a potential move to Anfield this summer.
The centre-back situation is therefore likely to be a priority for Liverpool this summer, particularly with the team struggling for consistent form across competitions and conceding more goals than expected.
Liverpool have already pre-agreed a deal for Jeremy Jacquet. However, according to Daily Mail’s Dominic King, Van de Ven, who “would want to come to Liverpool” is unlikely to be among the club’s summer transfer targets.
Reports in January suggested that Liverpool were “developing a keen interest” in Van de Ven, who had been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in 2023 before eventually joining Tottenham.
The Dutchman has netted seven goals this season in all competitions for Tottenham, who are currently sitting 16th in the Premier League. It is now believed he is not under consideration by the Liverpool hierarchy ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Alan Brazil and Dean Saunders on talkSPORT, King said: “From what I’ve heard, I don’t believe they’re in for him. I would never say anything definitively about a football transfer because things can change.
“I would believe that he would want to come to Liverpool. That’s from what I’ve heard, but I’m not sure that the feeling is totally mutual at this moment in time.”
