Steelers trade rumor from Adam Schefter offers mixed news for Cowboys and Eagles

Rumors have been circulating in recent days that the Pittsburgh Steelers might trade linebacker Patrick Queen, and the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly interested.

NFL Network's Jane Slater kicked off the Queen rumors by saying the Cowboys and Steelers talked about a Queen trade, but her most recent report revealed there was a snag in talks and the trade might not happen.

Then, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were also interested in Queen.

However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Steelers aren't interested in trading Queen.

He did say that he wondered if those rumors are floating around out there because Queen and Pittsburgh might have a disagreement over his contract, whether that be Queen wanting a raise or the Steelers wanting him to take a pay cut.

"Patrick Queen one is unusual because that also continues to float out there," Schefter reported on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. "The Pittsburgh Steelers say they're not interested in moving on from him."

"This could be maybe a money issue where he might be looking for more. Or, maybe they want him to take a pay cut that he's unwilling to take right now," Schefter added.

We would consider this a mixed update, as it has a little bit of good and bad news for the Eagles and Cowboys.

On one hand, the Steelers' lack of interest in trading Queen doesn't bode well for the NFC East foes, but on the other hand, if there is a money dispute between the two sides, perhaps Pittsburgh will change its stance on Queen.

Queen hasn't lived up to his contract over two seasons, so it would be preposterous for him to ask for a raise. If anything, it's more likely Pittsburgh wants him to take a pay cut, but that has not been confirmed.

What we do know is Dallas and Philly are both in the market for a linebacker.

The Eagles lost Nakobe Dean to the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency, and the Cowboys entered the offseason with a need at the position that they have yet to address.

We know how quickly things can change at this time of year, so this situation is one to continue to monitor moving forward.
