Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons, despite suffering a torn ACL to end his 2025 season early, is coming off a successful first year in Titletown. But the roster he began his Packers career with may look much different in 2026.

So far, the Packers have lost nine players to either free agency or trade, with a notable portion coming on the defensive side.

This may or may not sit well with Parsons, depending on how the Packers recoup their losses. They at least traded with the Indianapolis Colts for linebacker Zaire Franklin. But there’s more work to be done, whether that’s in free agency or the draft.

When questioned that all these losses were because of bad moves by the organization over the last several seasons, Locked On Packers’ Peter Bukowski pushed back on the belief.

“I don’t think that’s true at all,” Bukowski said. “Quay Walker was a miss as a first-round pick, but Romeo Doubs was a home run 4th round pick. Enagbare was a home run 5th. Rasheed Walker was a grand slam 7th. Those players are leaving BECAUSE they’re going to be expensive.”

That’s when Parsons chimed in.

Micah Parsons Defends Former Packers Teammates, Takes Shot at Cowboys

Parsons came to the defense of all four of his now former Packers teammates, saying that any NFL player earning a second contract is significant — all the while taking another subtle shot at his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.

“I think any player hitting a second contract is successful to me ! Business is business I had 3 all pros and still ain’t get paid by the team that drafted me!” Parsons said.

All four free agents are signing their second career contracts, with Doubs leading the way on his four-year, $68 million deal. Walker, once he signs, should be another to ink a lucrative new deal.

That’s the type of contract Parsons was hoping to secure during his time in Dallas, which ultimately led to a public back-and-forth between him and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Parsons has never shied away from voicing his thoughts on social media, and his latest comment appeared to reference that ongoing frustration he still hasn’t let go from his time in Dallas.

Contract Dispute With Cowboys Led to Packers Blockbuster

Parsons’ departure from Dallas came after months of tension between the All-Pro pass rusher and the Cowboys over a contract extension.

After requesting a trade during the 2025 offseason, negotiations between Parsons’ camp and the Cowboys stalled, eventually leading to a blockbuster move that sent him to Green Bay.

The Packers acquired Parsons in August 2025 in a massive deal that included two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark going to Dallas. Shortly after the trade, Green Bay signed Parsons to a four-year, $188 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at the time.

Parsons immediately made an impact in Green Bay, recording 12.5 sacks before suffering a season-ending ACL injury late in the year.

Despite the injury, Parsons has remained one of the most vocal leaders on the Packers roster — and clearly still hasn’t forgotten how things ended in Dallas.
