The Golden State Warriors are set to regain a veteran presence in the frontcourt as they return home to face the Chicago Bulls.

Al Horford has been cleared to play and is no longer listed on the injury report after sitting out Monday’s 119–116 loss to the Utah Jazz due to left toe injury management.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed before Monday’s game in Utah that Horford and fellow big man Kristaps Porziņģis flew back to the Bay Area early to prepare for Tuesday’s home matchup with Chicago.

Both veterans are now off the injury report, giving Golden State a chance to stabilize its frontcourt rotation after navigating a short-handed stretch on its recent road trip.

Al Horford Returns as Warriors Manage Frontcourt Health

Horford’s absence in Utah came shortly after the 39-year-old logged significant minutes during Golden State’s 104–97 loss to the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

In that game, Horford recorded four points on 2-of-6 shooting along with five rebounds, four assists and one block in 29 minutes.

While his scoring output was modest, the veteran center’s playmaking and defensive awareness continue to provide value within the Warriors’ system.

Horford had previously enjoyed a brief scoring surge, posting back-to-back 17-point outings against the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Golden State hopes Horford’s return — alongside Porziņģis — will help reinforce a frontcourt that has been heavily taxed during the closing weeks of the regular season.

Draymond Green Questionable After Heavy Minutes vs Jazz

While Horford is set to return, Golden State’s frontcourt depth remains uncertain heading into Tuesday’s game.

Draymond Green is listed as questionable with back injury management after logging heavy minutes in Monday’s loss.

Green played 32 minutes against Utah and finished with six points and 11 assists without committing a turnover.

Despite the defeat, the veteran forward once again orchestrated much of Golden State’s offense while anchoring its defense.

Green has frequently drawn the toughest defensive assignments this season, a responsibility he continues to embrace.

“I think our coaching staff figured out I have a lot more energy when I get that kind of assignment,” Green said recently. “Because like I said, if coach calls on me to guard Kawhi, to guard KD, to guard Shai — that’s a badge of honor.”

Quinten Post Also Questionable With Foot Soreness

The Warriors could also be without another frontcourt option.

Second-year center Quinten Post is listed as questionable with bilateral foot soreness.

Post delivered a solid performance against the Jazz, scoring 10 points and grabbing four rebounds in 25 minutes while providing energy off the bench.

If either Green or Post is unavailable against Chicago, Horford’s return becomes even more important for Golden State’s rotation.

Warriors Hoping Veteran Frontcourt Stabilizes Playoff Push

Golden State enters the final stretch of the regular season battling for playoff positioning in a crowded Western Conference race.

After Monday’s narrow loss in Utah, Golden State’s fourth in its last five games, which further tightened the pressure in the Western Conference standings. The loss dropped Golden State back to .500 and pushed them down to ninth place in the tightly packed Western Conference playoff race.

According to Tankathon’s strength-of-schedule metrics, Golden State still has one of the more manageable remaining schedules.

Still, the margin for error remains thin.

With Horford and Porziņģis cleared to play — and Green and Post potentially available — Golden State hopes its frontcourt depth will help stabilize the lineup as the team pushes toward securing a postseason berth.
