The Buffalo Bills have reportedly “reached out” about defensive end Trey Hendrickson, per a source shared with Ryan Talbot. Often viewed as one of the premiere pass rushers in today’s NFL, Henrickson has not found early success in free agency, despite interest from quite a few teams.
Hendrickson, now 31, is looking for a big pay day, with some reports suggesting around or north of $30 million per season. If true, that likely takes One Bills Drive out of the running, thanks to their salary cap challenges. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Hendricks is unwilling to compromise on his salary demands that he won’t take a discounted deal at this point in time.
Still, not reaching out to Hendrickson would seem like malpractice for president of football operations/general manager Brandon Beane, who’s said in the past that he’s always going to check in on talented players. Beyond the free-agent contract concerns, Hendrickson is coming off a season where he played in just seven games and suffered a back injury that required surgery.
