On Monday, the Green Bay Packers made the unsurprising decision to release offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins. The move freed up nearly $20 million in salary cap space, but was also prefaced by Green Bay signing Sean Rhyan to a three-year deal over the weekend.
In other words, with Rhyan back in the fold, Jenkins’ time with the Packers was over.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Jenkins’ release came with a failed physical designation. The significance of that is Green Bay would still be on the hook for his 2026 salary if he was not able to get healthy enough to play for another team next year.
Thankfully, that is not going to be the case. Jenkins found a new home one day after the Packers released him.

According to multiple NFL reporters and insiders, Jenkins has agreed to a two-year contract with the Cleveland Browns:
Two-time Pro Bowl OL Elgton Jenkins is signing with the Browns on a two-year, $24 million deal with $20M guaranteed, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

The contract, as posted above, is worth $20 million and could be worth as much as $24 million.
What will be interesting to see in Cleveland is where Jenkins is going to play on their line. Green Bay moved him to center last year, but he is a two-time Pro Bowler at left guard.
Of course, he also has experience at both tackle positions in the NFL. The big question, though, is how well he will be able to play following his injury. He is also on the wrong side of 30.
Additionally, the Browns need to figure out who their starting quarterback is going to be.
