After going through additional testing on his hand, Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey has been hit with an unfortunate injury update.

According to a team official, Maxey is set to miss at least three weeks of action.

“Following consultations with multiple hand specialists, which included a review of additional imaging, Tyrese Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury to the small finger on his right hand,” the Sixers announced in an official medical update.

Since the All-Star break, the Sixers have been crushed with bad injury luck.

The team was already missing its star forward, Paul George, who was suspended for 25 games. That punishment kicked in before the break. He’s not eligible to return until late March.

Beyond George’s suspension, the Sixers were hit with multiple Joel Embiid setbacks. His knee was already a concern throughout the year, but he started experiencing shin issues after returning to practice. Just as Embiid made it back out on the floor, he suffered an oblique injury during his second game out.

Tuesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies will mark the sixth absence in a row for Embiid. He will be re-evaluated later this week, but there isn’t a return date in sight for the big man just yet.

On Tuesday, the Sixers will host the Grizzlies for the second night of a back-to-back set. They are currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak, falling short to the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With a 34-30 record, the Sixers are sitting eighth in the Eastern Conference. They trail the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat by 1.5 games. The Atlanta Hawks are within one game of the Sixers’ eighth seed.
