The Chicago Bears have signed former Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Kentavius Street, NFL insider Jordan Schultz announced.

“Sources: The#Bears are signing veteran DE Kentavius Street. Street has been with the Falcons since 2023 and brings 10.5 career sacks to Chicago.”

Street, 29, is 6’2″ and 315 pounds with eight seasons of NFL experience. He was selected in the fourth round of the 20118 NFL Draft. Last season in Atlanta, he had 21 total tackles and two sacks but was limited to just seven games.

The financials of how much Street signed for and the number of years have not been announced yet.

Street is brought in as a depth piece to play alongside Gervon Dexter Sr., Grady Jarrett, and Neville Gallimore, who the Bears just signed on March 9th.

This likely signals the end of Andrew Billings’ tenure in Chicago, as he’s a free agent and will look to find a new home.

Street joins Joe Thuney and Garrett Bradbury as the third player on the roster who went to North Carolina State.

Street has always been a rotational player on the defensive line, and that likely won’t change in Chicago. With the Bears’ need for help on the defensive line, the hope is that he can provide some much-needed juice under defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

Bears GM Ryan Poles Comments on Addressing Defensive Needs

During the NFL Combine, Bears general manager Ryan Poles commented on his emphasis to address defensive needs, especially when it comes to bringing in guys who are fast.

“I just want to continue to improve our defensive speed,” Poles said. “I think we saw that a little bit Green Bay and some of the games down the stretch. I want to improve our defensive speed overall. So those are some of the factors we’re going to look at.”

The Bears already made a ton of defensive signings who will bring some serious speed to Chicago, which includes the following:

It’ll be interesting to see if Poles continues to add to the defensive tackle room during free agency, or if adding Street will be the last move until the 2026 NFL Draft.

Regardless, adding to the DT room shouldn’t stop with Street. He, along with Gallimore, are depth signings. If the Bears are serious about addressing the lack of stopping the run and getting to the quarterback, Chicago needs to find a game-changer, and the hope is they do during the draft, or who knows, maybe a trade opportunity pops up for a star DT.
