The Kansas Chiefs traded Skyy Moore and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round draft choice in 2025.
The Chicago Bears are attempting to build off their 2025 NFC North title with an even better season in 2026. The Bears have already made several significant moves in hopes of upgrading their roster. Over the first two days of the NFL Free agency period, they mainly focused onbolstering their defense. They’ve added pieces such as safety Colby Bryant, defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, linebacker Devin Bush, and defensive back Cam Lewis.
Pro Football Focus graded the Bears as the 20th-best defense in 2025. General manager Ryan Poles and the front office have emphasized addressing this side of the ball. However, the Bears aren’t the only team in the NFC North that has been improving. The Detroit Lions recently added Isaiah Pacheco to their backfield asthe new runningmate to Jahmyr Gibbs. And the Green Bay Packers just added a new threat from the 49ers that could have an immense effect as they attempt to knock off the Bears next season.

Skyy Moore Makes The Packers’ Special Teams More Dangerous for Chicago

Beyond Moore’s usage as a new gadget receiver in Matt LaFleur’s offense, his real impact will be on special teams. “Moore averaged 27.5 yards per kick return and 11.6 yards per punt return in San Francisco,Schultz wrote. “A key weapon for field position.”
The Packers averaged only5.6 return yardson punts in 2025, the lowest in the league. They also averaged25.2 yards per return on kickoffs in 2025, tied for the ninth-lowest in the league.
Moore’s addition may not have only been in hopes of improving a struggling unit for the Packers, but may have also been in response to the impact of Devin Duvernay on the Bears.
Skyy Moore Could Be A Result of Devin Duvernay’s Playoff Performance

Devin Duvernay was a key piece on special teams for the Bears last season. He contributed several momentum-changing moments, including two against the Packers. In the Bears’Wild Card matchup with the Packers, Duvernay was key in their comeback win.
After being down 21-6 with under a minute remaining in the third quarter, Duvernay exploded up the sideline for an electric36-yard punt return that flipped the energy and set the Bears up for a Brandon McManus 51-yard field goal.
Duvernay then followed up his longest return of the season with a 22-yard return on the Bears’ next possession that helped start a drive that would lead to D’Andre Swift’s six-yard score to cut the lead to 21-16.
Duvernay’s efficiency helped kickstart Chicago’s comeback and was one of the key factors in their playoff win. It makes sense that the Packers would attempt to add a similar style of playmaker. All three of the Bears’ battles with the Packers in 2025 came down to less than seven points. In a close game where truly every play matters, a key special teams play could be all that separates a win from a loss. The Bears will now have to prepare for an extra weapon if they hope to continue beating the Packers next year.
