After one season with the New Orleans Saints, former South Carolina punter Kai Kroeger is on the move as he's been traded to an AFC South squad.
According to a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the New Orleans Saints have traded Kroeger to the Houston Texans as both teams will swap sixth and seventh-round picks in the 2028 NFL Draft.
In his one season with the Saints, Kroeger logged 56 punts for an average of 44.8 yards per attempt with a long of 61. He also pinned 18 punts inside the 20.
In three games as a rookie, Kroeger averaged over 50 yards per attempt with his best performance coming against the Atlanta Falcons in the final game of the season where he averaged 50.8 yards per attempt. Kroeger also turned in a solid performance against the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 30, when he downed three punts inside the 20 while averaging 48.8 yards per attempt.
Last July, Kroeger signed a two-year, $2,125,000 deal with the Saints as his contract runs through the 2027 season.

Kroeger turned in a stellar five-year career at South Carolina as he finished second in program history with an average of 44.6 yards on a school record 265 punts. In addition to punting, Kroeger also served as the holder for the Gamecocks. He also shined on trick plays as he completed 7-of-10 passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns.
Kroeger capped off his career at South Carolina with his best season statistically as he averaged 47.8 yards per attempt on 47 punts in 2024 while also pinning 18 inside the 20.
For his performance in his final year in the garnet and black, Kroeger was a first team All-SEC selection by the league's coaches while he also was a second team All-America selection by the FWAA.
