The Philadelphia Eagles needed to find a viable number two outside cornerback opposite Quinyon Mitchell this offseason. Adoree’ Jackson was the de facto number two corner, playing the second-most snaps on the outside, but struggled while missing time with a groin injury and a concussion. Meanwhile, Kelee Ringo struggled in relief, and Jakorian Bennett missed time due to a pectoral injury and logged just 98 snaps.

According to Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Eagles are set to sign Tariq “Riq” Woolen to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million to be the number two corner. Philadelphia hopes that the talented cornerback returns to his 2022 form, when he recorded six interceptions and earned a Pro Bowl selection as a rookie, after being on the decline since 2024.

Tariq Woolen began his fourth season as the starting cornerback, starting his first six games before being pushed out of the starting lineup in Week 9 due to his struggles and the emergence of Josh Jobe, with the last game he started in Week 10. The Seahawks attempted to trade him at the NFL Trade Deadline but kept him because Devon Witherspoon was injured. Woolen recorded 41 tackles, one TFL, one interception, and 12 pass deflections across 16 regular-season games, including seven starts, accounting for 817 defensive snaps, the second-most at the position.
Woolen also posted eight tackles and four pass deflections in the playoffs. He received negative publicity during the NFC Championship Game when he taunted the Rams’ bench after deflecting a pass on 3rd & 12, then allowed a 34-yard touchdown grab by Puka Nacua on the next play.
