The Bengals received news involving Maxx Crosby
The Cincinnati Bengals have been busy at the beginning of free agency, as they have signedtwo solid defensive players to multi-year deals. The Bengals entered free agency looking to improve their defense, which allowed the third-most points during the 2025 season.
While the signing of Bryan Cook and Boye Mafe will surely help bolster their defense and provide much-needed experience, the team currently lacks superstar talent on that side of the ball.A report by Albert Breerindicated that the team considered making a blockbuster move for pass rusher Maxx Crosby, but that did not materialize.
However, a new development has once again opened the door for Crosby to land in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati Bengals Get News on Maxx Crosby Trade
After an agreement was reached between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Baltimore Ravens, which resulted in superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby being traded to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round picks, the deal has now gone sideways. The Raiders announced that the Ravenshad backed out of the trade.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini revealed that the reason behind the trade falling apart was that Maxx Crosby did not pass his physical with the Ravens.
Now, with Crosby now once again a member of the Raiders, Cincinnati may opt to once again pursue the pass rusher. One player who would likely want to see that happen is Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who went on an expletive filled rant once the news of Crosby going to the Ravens broke.
During a livestream, Chase said, “Joe just f—ing texted me. Ravens traded for Maxx Crosby. No f—ing s—. No f—ing s—, brother. “I’m f—ing highly p—ed right now. Oh my God.” He added, “How do we let this n—- go to the f—ing division bro?”
Even if the Bengals do not end up acquiring Crosby, Chase will be happy that Crosby will not be joining the Baltimore Ravens.
Bengals Praise of Crosby
The Bengals have previously praised Crosby,as Zac Taylor once said of him, “He’s one of the best players in the NFL.”
After the Ravens agreed to the trade, and the Bengals’ interest was reported, Sports Illustrated’s Zach Presnell wrote about Cincinnati having more to offer. He said, “The Bengals probably balked at the idea of giving up the 10th pick in this year’s draft and their first round pick next year. That would’ve topped the Ravens offer to the Raiders, but it would’ve also been a lot to give up.” However, now that Crosby has failed his physical, it is possible that the price on a potential trade has been lowered.
The Bengals had previously been seen as alanding spot for Crosby as NFL writer Logan Ulrich wrote, “The Bengals have dedicated a ton of resources to the offense during Burrow’s career. It’s the defense that has fallen off the hardest over the past three seasons,” Ulrich wrote, “They have the cash and they have the picks to make a deal happen. Crosby would be elated to play with Burrow, and he’d be the type of cornerstone player the Bengals could build the rest of the defense around. The biggest possible objection to this deal is that it’s just not the Bengals’ style.”
