Tiki Barber open to the idea of the Giants trading for WR Brian Thomas Jr.

There has been a lot of speculation in recent days, before NFL free agency, that the Jacksonville Jaguars were fielding calls on star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. about a potential trade.

However, on Tuesday, NFL insider Adam Schefter seemed to shut those rumors down in a recent post on X. The post was titled “Despite speculation, the Jaguars have not been interested in trading Brian Thomas Jr.”

Thomas Jr. had a down 2025 season compared to his strong rookie season, but the Jaguars have lost a lot this offseason, and head coach Liam Cohen and the Jaguars front office seem to be dedicated to the development of the Pro Bowl receiver.

This is good news for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Over the past two days in NFL free agency, the Jags have lost Travis Etienne Jr and Devin Lloyd. Those are two critical pieces of the Jags team on both sides of the ball.

Here was Schefter’s statement on the situation:

“I’ve been told that the Jaguars are not interested in trading him [BTJ]. They’ve denied it repeatedly. His name continues to come up in social media circles, and for whatever reason, it doesn’t go away, but every indication that I’ve gotten back is that the Jaguars have no interest in moving on from Brian Thomas Jr.”

Brian Thomas With the Jaguars

In 2024, Thomas’s rookie season, the star out of LSU hauled in 1,282 receiving yards on 87 catches and 10 touchdowns. He finished fourth in offensive player of the year voting.

However, in 2025, in a much better Jaguars offense in terms of total offense, Thomas was not featured as much.

He brought in 48 catches for 707 yards and just two touchdowns. That’s a big regression year, and while it’s not entirely Brian Thomas’s fault, when those big regression years happen, trade speculation usually follows.

It’s also important to note that BTJ also played in three fewer games in 2025.

However, this report that Adam Schefter is good news for the Jaguars, who will hope to replace the production lost by Travis Etienne and Devin Lloyd in the 2026 NFL Draft, but still have a solid offense with the emergence of Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers as top targets for Trevor Lawrence.
