The first few rounds of the NFL legal tampering period are underway, and the Buffalo Bills have made some key moves, bringing significant players onto their roster while also finalizing deals with several players already on the team.

Bills Could Make a Move On Josh Allen’s Contract

A few of the players the Bills re-signed include center Connor McGovern, who they agreed to a four-year, $52 million deal on Saturday, and tight end Dawson Knox, who signed a three-year extension on Tuesday.

The Bills have also implemented restructuring moves involving tackle Spencer Brown, defensive tackle Ed Oliver and kicker Tyler Bass, who took a pay cut. According to NFL insider Dianna Russini and Bills writer Joe Buscaglia from The Athletic, there’s buzz that Josh Allen mightrestructure his contract as well, potentially opening up around $12 million in cap space.

“The Bills have already done a considerable amount of cap clearing, restructuring the deals of right tackle Spencer Brown, defensive tackle Ed Oliver, negotiating a pay cut with kicker Tyler Bass, trading nickel Taron Johnson to the Las Vegas Raiders and cutting wide receiver Curtis Samuel, safety Taylor Rapp and cornerback Dane Jackson. The Bills can still do a simple restructure of Allen’s contract, which would yield savings of up to $12.56 million,” Joe Buscaglia and Dianna Russini wrote on Tuesday.

The Bills may be looking to restructure Allen’s contract to free up some cap space for additional players this offseason, which could help them make a strong push for the Super Bowl. Recently, a key player became available that Buffalo didn’t have a shot at acquiring just last week.

Buffalo Could go After Maxx Crosby

The Las Vegas Raiders reached an agreement to trade Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens on Friday, exchanging him for a pair of first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. However, this deal is no longer going through.

Baltimore pulled out of the trade on Tuesday night. The reason it fell through was that Crosby didn’t pass his physical, according to Russini.

The Ravens will regain both of their first-round picks, while the Raiders will welcome back Crosby. With Crosby back in the fold, the Raiders might be considering trading him again, which could open the door for the Bills to enter the market.

Buffalo has two first-round picks to offer over the next two years, but Crosby carries a significant cap hit of $35 million this season. If he didn’t pass his physical with the Ravens, there’s a chance he might not clear it in Buffalo either. It’s worth noting that not every team follows the same rules regarding physicals, so just because Crosby didn’t pass in Baltimore doesn’t necessarily mean the Bills wouldn’t take a chance on him. However, it does raise some concerns.

Even if the Bills aren’t pursuing Crosby, they could still be interested in free agent pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, who might command around $25 million per season. This would require Allen to restructure his deal to free up $12 million.
