Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen is signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.

Schefter added that agent Jason Chayut confirmed the deal for Woolen, which will be one year and worth up to $15 million.
It officially ends an up-and-down four seasons in Seattle for Woolen, who was widely viewed as the least likely of the Seahawks’ six most notable free agents to be retained.
At times, the 6-foot-4 Woolen flashed tantalizing potential with his rare combination of length, speed and athleticism. That was especially the case during his Pro Bowl rookie campaign in 2022, when he burst onto the scene with a league-high-tying six interceptions and 16 pass breakups as an unheralded fifth-round draft pick out of Texas-San Antonio.
But after his rookie year, Woolen’s stretches of elite play were too often overshadowed by head-scratching mistakes.
Woolen’s stats illustrate that juxtaposition. He totaled 12 interceptions and 53 pass breakups over the past four seasons, making him one of just two NFL players with at least 10 interceptions and 50 pass breakups over that span. But he’s also surrendered 15 touchdown passes since entering the league, which is tied for the 15th-most of any player, according to Stathead.
Woolen’s 2025, in particular, was emblematic of his roller-coaster career.
Woolen struggled mightily over the first month, including two costly misplays that keyed the San Francisco 49ers’ game-winning touchdown drive in Week 1. Then, with trade rumors swirling, he bounced back and played at a high level for the latter three-quarters of the regular season. But in the NFC title game, he nearly cost the Seahawks a Super Bowl berth when he extended a Los Angeles Rams drive with a taunting penalty, and then surrendered a long TD pass on the very next play.
Woolen is the fourth unrestricted free agent to depart from the Super Bowl champion Seahawks since the NFL’s free agent negotiating period began Monday morning.
Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III is reportedly signing with the Kansas City Chiefs on a three-year contract that’s worth up to $45 million. Safety Coby Bryant is heading to the Chicago Bears on a reported three-year, $40 million deal. And edge rusher Boye Mafe is signing with the Cincinnati Bengals on a reported three-year, $60 million deal.
The Seahawks did retain cornerback Josh Jobe, who is re-signing on a reported three-year, $24 million deal. They also are bringing back speedy wide receiver/return specialist Rashid Shaheed, who is returning on a reported three-year, $51 million deal.
