4 low-cost options Broncos should still consider in free agency as new league year begins

The Denver Broncos have had an uneventful start to the free-agent signing period, using the legal tampering portion of free agency to give new deals to their own free agents. The Broncos kept Justin Strnad, Alex Singleton, Adam Trautman adn J.K. Dobbins.

However, the team has yet to agree to a deal with a single player from another team, one of only three teams to do that so far, with the other two being Jacksonville and Seattle. How long will that continue to be the case?

Surely, the Broncos will bring in some fresh talent eventually. It seems clear that the team is happy with what it has and though it checked in on some of the top names that have agreed to new deals so far, it is simply not willing to hand out big contracts.

Instead, the Broncos have chosen to bring back as much of their roster from the 2025 season as possible. Still, there are players the team can take dart throws at with cheap deals to see if they can find contributors for the 2026 season. There are plenty of capable players still sitting on the market and the Broncos should consider some of them.

Low-cost free agents for Broncos to consider as 2026 league year becomes official

Emanuel Wilson, RB

The Broncos needed a running back as much as any team in the league this offseason and that was the case even if they re-signed Dobbins. Instead, Kenneth Walker, Travis Etienne, Tyler Allgeier, Rico Dowdle, Kenneth Gainwell and Isiah Pacheco all signed elsewhere.

Emanuel Wilson is a player who began his career in Denver as an undrafted free agent out of Fort Valley State, but the Broncos released him just a few days later. The Green Bay Packers signed him and have had him ever since and he has filled in nicely as a rotational back for the team.

He could do the same in Denver as an experienced RB3 behind Dobbins and RJ Harvey.

Antonio Gibson, RB

Antonio Gibson will turn 28 years old in June and the best football of his career is likely behind him, particularly with him coming off a torn ACL that ended his season with the Patriots early last year. But the Broncos could kick the tires on the veteran who has over 3,200 career rushing yards. He can also contribute as a kick returner.

Logan Wilson, LB

This is a move that has been discussed this offseason. The Broncos re-signed Strnad and Singleton but chose to move on from Dre Greenlaw. With the inside linebacker group thin, bringing in a veteran like Logan Wilson makes sense.

The Broncos could sign him to a one-year deal to see what he can still bring to the table.

Taysom Hill, TE

Sean Payton loved having Taysom Hill in New Orleans and even though the do-it-all gadget player is going to be 36 years old in August, it seems that the only way his professional career is going to continue might be if he hooks up with his old coach.
