Saints sign LB Kaden Elliss

After day 1 of free agency, the New Orleans Saints still had some big needs on the roster, especially after losing Demario Davis. The Saints could not go into next season with this current group, and even adding two more LBs (one in FA and one in the draft) was a potential option. There were still some great options on the market, and the Saints targeted someone who had already played for the team.

Today, for the only signing of the day so far, the Saints have brought back LB Kaden Elliss on a 3-year, $33 million deal, per Nick Underhill.

A bit of a surprise deal, but a welcome one. Again, the Saints needed a LB added to this roster, and Elliss has been really good since leaving the Saints in 2023. He is excellent at rushing the passer and stopping the run, and last season, he improved in pass coverage. It’s going to be interesting how Brandon Staley utilizes Elliss on defense, because he has some play at OLB.
