Furious Jaylen Brown Gets Ejected As Shorthanded Celtics Fall To Spurs

Jaylen Brown has helped the Boston Celtics win countless games this season. But against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night, he might have cost them one.

Brown was ejected in the second quarter for aggressively arguing with the officials. He got into a heated argument with referee Tyler Ford, who missed a potential foul on Brown that happened right in front of him.

An enraged Brown got a technical foul, which made him even angrier and led to his ejection. He had to be held back by Celtics teammates and coaches before finally leaving the court.

Brown's ejection was only the second of his career and his first since the 2023-24 campaign. It happened with 3:42 left in the first half and Boston up 51-49. He was playing well at the time, too, with eight points and seven assists in 15 minutes.

The Celtics were already without Payton Pritchard as well, who was scratched before the game with neck spasms. Without two of its top scorers, Boston faltered in the second half and lost 125-116.

Brown continued to blast the officials on social media after his ejection, writing "This the (expletive) I be talking about" on X during the game.

Brown has publicly criticized referees several times this season, including after the Celtics' 100-95 loss to the Spurs in January. Boston only attempted four free throws during that loss, causing Brown to call out the officiating after the game and receive a $35,000 fine from the league.

It's unclear if Brown will face additional punishment for his actions on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Celtics will look to bounce back on Thursday in another tough road matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
