The Detroit Lions are in the mix again for Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raider, or at least the possibility is there.

The dream is still alive for the Detroit Lions to snag Las Vegas Raiders edge Maxx Crosby and bring him back to the Mitten. In a startling move, on Tuesday, March 10, ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced that the Baltimore Ravens have backed out of their high-profile deal to acquire Crosby.

The deal, which was slated to become official on Wednesday, March 11, was to trade the five-time Pro-Bowl defensive end to the Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks. But, as Schefter shared on X, the “Ravens backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade.”

Now, in theory, the Detroit Lions could make a move to trade for Crosby and pair him with edge Aidan Hutchinson, another Michigan native. That’s the dream scenario so many in the Lions’ camp would like to see. Now, the Lions have gotten more good news, if they, indeed, do pursue Crosby.

Detroit Lions Will Have Less Competition to Get Maxx Crosby

Crosby is at the top of his game, and that’s one of the reasons he’s such a sought-after player in trade situations. During the 2025NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.

But, one team is out. According to Dianna Russini of the Athletic, the Dallas Cowboys are no longer going to pursue him. That’s one less team at the table.

“The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to re-engage in Maxx Crosby trade discussions at this time, a high-ranking source tells The Athletic,” she said on a post on X.

According to a report from Ryan McFadden of ESPN, Baltimore backed out of the deal due to Crosby’s physical.

“No further details were provided in the Raiders’ announcement, but league sources told ESPN the Ravens backed out because of medical concerns that arose during a physical,” McFadden stated. “Trades are contingent on players passing the physical and aren’t official until the start of the new league year Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.”

Maxx Crosby Took Back His Farewell to the Las Vegas Raiders

After the news broke, Crosby deleted his farewell message to the Ravens. So, perhaps he’s just going to stay with that franchise, but teams are surely interested.

“Raider Nation has given me everything,” Crosby said in the now-deleted message. “My family, had the chance to get married, have the most beautiful daughter in the world, grow as a man, as a player, as a leader, a human being. One thing I could say is above all else is that I gave you everything I got and I have no regrets about that. I put everything into trying to win as a Raider.”

Crosby also said that he had no hard feelings about the trade. “I have zero ill will towards that organization in any way,” Crosby said. “I want them to have all the success in the world.”

“I wanted everything good for the Raiders,” Crosby added. “I bleed silver and black. That will never change and I’m a Raider for life. “And I truly wanna finish when it’s all said and done, in a Raiders jersey, whenever that time comes.
