76ers forward unimpressed by Bam Adebayo's historic 83 points

The 76ers forward claimed that he is even more impressed by Joel Embiid's 70-point night back in the 2023-24 season.

As Bam Adebayo made history by dropping an unbelievable 83-point display on Tuesday, Kelly Oubre Jr. dropped intriguing remarks regarding the historic night of the Miami Heat star.

While he praised Adebayo for his career performance, the Philadelphia 76ers veteran was candid enough to assess how the big man pulled it off compared to Joel Embiid's 70 points back in 2024.

"Well, one, I'm going to say it's definitely legendary—the box score, the number. And shoutout to Bam Adebayo. He's implemented himself in history, and I'm kind of salty that he bested Kobe Bryant. He's one of my favorite players for sure," Oubre Jr. told reporters after the Sixers' 139-129 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

"But I'm going to just say this, man: Joel Embiid did it efficiently, and he did it in three quarters."

Embiid set the 76ers' franchise record in points for a single game during the 2023-24 season, dropping 70 points in 24-of-41 shooting (58.5%) and netting 21 of his 23 free throws across 36 minutes of play.

In 42 minutes, Adebayo made his 83-point masterpiece by going 20-of-43 from the field (46.5%). The mind-blogging element has been his free-throw counts, in which he officially set the NBA record for most attempts and made in history (36-of-43).

Embiid tallied his 70 points against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, while Adebayo pulled his 83 points against a rebuilding Washington Wizards team.

At the end of the day, and regardless of what fans may continue to say, both performances will always go down in the NBA record books.
