Commanders sign former Chiefs LB Leo Chenal to 3-year deal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Another Kansas City Chiefs defender is departing for a new team in free agency.

Linebacker Leo Chenal confirmed a report from Jordan Schultz that he’s signed a three-year deal with the Washington Commanders.

Chenal [posted two Army helmet emojis](https://x.com/lchenal54/status/2031502115206463843?s=20) in response to the report, which was shared Tuesday night. His new contract is reportedly worth $24.75 million over three years.

Chenal, who was drafted in the third round, 103rd overall out of Wisconsin in the 2022 NFL Draft, becomes the eighth Chief from that draft class to depart from Kansas City. Chenal is the fifth from that draft class to leave this offseason.

In four years, Chenal totaled 124 solo tackles, 7 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.

Chenal was part of a draft class that won two Super Bowls and went to three consecutive with the Chiefs.
