Opinion: Tyrique George might be concerned about who Everton are now reportedly targeting

Tyrique George joined Everton on loan on transfer deadline day, but links to Crysencio Summerville may now put the pressure on him to deliver.

Tyrique George was the only new addition for Everton in the mid-season window, signed as a replacement for the injured Jack Grealish.

Would you be happy with this potential transfer Toffees fans? 🤔

Everton target Crysencio Summerville.

The youngster signed from Chelsea, and there was a feeling of real excitement about the move.

Everton have lacked pace in the wide areas, and George is known for that and being direct.

The hope is that he’ll inject a bit of fresh impetus and youthful spirit, and we have seen some early glimpses of that.

But he’s yet to really ignite, and now Everton are linked with a player who is quite comparable to him.

In recent days, Everton have been credited with an interest in West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville has been with West Ham since the summer of 2024, transferring from Leeds United, with whom he spent four years.

Of course at the moment, there’s a chance West Ham could go down – and that will see them lose a lot of players.

Everton apparently like Summerville, and this may not be good news for George if he is intent on turning his loan move permanent, which you’d imagine he is.

Because Summerville is primarily a left winger, with the capacity to play across the front line, just like George.

Summerville also plays in a similar way to George in that he’s explosive and direct. He enjoys taking on his man and tries to cause damage to the opposition in the final third.

So George may well have to up his game if the club are looking at Summerville.

Ultimately, he’s a player who is further along in his development than George and already knows what it takes to survive and shine in the Premier League.

In a recent feature published by the Daily Mail, former England international Chris Powell could not hide how highly he rates Summerville.

“He wants to attack the goal and the player every single time. He’s not about being safe, he’s about being creative and being bright and being alive. Fans love those sorts of players but, equally, managers do too when there’s an end product. You’re seeing that now.”

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has also sung his praises, saying: “I truly believe that there’s a lot of things yet to come from him. He’s been doing well, amazing, helping the team, not only with his goals and assists, but always also with his defensive work. I don’t see a ceiling.”

Simply put, Summerville is a player who really could light up the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
