Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and transfer latest from icchelseanews guys…
Arsenal could be open to selling captain and shock Chelsea target Martin Ødegaard this summer if an offer in the region of €100 million arrives.
Ødegaard has been a central figure at Arsenal since initially joining on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021 before completing a permanent move later that year. The Norwegian midfielder has since developed into one of the Premier League club’s most influential players, eventually being named club captain and playing a key role in Arsenal’s recent title challenges.
However, the latest transfer rumour suggests Arsenal’s hierarchy could consider a sale if a club is willing to meet a nine-figure valuation. According to the report, the club would only entertain offers close to €100 million, reflecting both Ødegaard’s importance to the team and the length of his current contract.
There is currently no indication from the club that they are actively seeking to sell their captain, and the rumour should be viewed cautiously. Arsenal are still competing at the highest level domestically and in Europe, and losing such an influential player would represent a major decision ahead of the next campaign.
Nevertheless, speculation surrounding high-profile players often intensifies as the summer transfer window approaches. CHELSEA have been one of the clubs that have been linked with the player and could be willing to meet the asking price
Any club considering a move for Ødegaard would likely need to commit a substantial financial package, not only meeting Arsenal’s reported €100 million valuation but also offering a competitive contract to lure the Norwegian away from the Emirates Stadium.
Could he seriously end up at Chelsea?
Look, there will e alot more rumours, alot of speculation and we are sure that the board may even make a cheeky offer in the summer, and although anything can happen in football, we are pretty sure that this is a player that will not make the move to CHELSEA
He will probably move abroad is he moves on.
TONALI NEEDS BIG MOVE
Former Italy international Giuseppe Rossi has claimed that Sandro Tonali “deserves to play for a big team,” sparking fresh discussion about the Newcastle United midfielder’s long-term future amid reported interest from CHELSEA
Tonali, who joined Newcastle from AC Milan in a £55 million deal in 2023, has re-established himself as a key figure at St James’ Park following a difficult first season in England. The Italian international has impressed with his composure in midfield, tactical intelligence and ability to dictate the tempo of games under manager Eddie Howe.
Speaking in a recent interview, Rossi suggested that Tonali’s qualities could see him eventually move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, speaking in association with BetVictor Online Casino – told GOAL: “He deserves it. He’s been a great player for Newcastle. He was great at Milan, great for Newcastle.
“He’s a leader out there. He provides a lot of quality, but also quantity. So, these are rare players in our game today. So, he deserves to play for a big team for sure. The price tags today in football are crazy. So, you’re definitely going to be paying top dollar for a player like him.”
Rossi stopped short of suggesting Tonali should leave Newcastle immediately, but his comments have inevitably fuelled speculation linking the midfielder with a number of Premier League heavyweights.
CHELSEA have been evaluating options to strengthen the centre of the park as part of a broader squad rebuild. While Man United are also expected to remain active in the market despite their already significant investment in midfield talent in recent seasons.
For now, Newcastle remain under no pressure to sell. Tonali is contracted long-term and is viewed internally as a central piece of the club’s ambitious project under their Saudi-backed ownership.
Do Chelsea need to sign Tonali?
The short answer is no, we have enough quality in midfield to not worry about adding another midfielder to the side, especially as Tonali is not any better than Moises Caicedo or Enzo Fernandez.
But Liam Rosenior wants his own players, and if he wants the transfer to happen, the CHELSEA board may be happy to make an move.
BRANDT LEAVING DORTMUND
CHELSEA could be handed an unexpected transfer opportunity this summer after Borussia Dortmund confirmed that Julian Brandt will leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season.
Sporting CEO Lars Ricken broke the silence regarding the Germany international’s future following Dortmund’s 2-1 victory over Koln. Speaking in a post-match interview with Sky, Ricken addressed the speculation that had been mounting for months. “There have already been a few reports. The fact is that there were open discussions and it was agreed that the expiring contract would not be extended,” Ricken said.
“[He’s] played a few hundred games for Borussia Dortmund. I think we can only be grateful to him. He played for us for seven years and was sometimes viewed critically. He will be 30 in a few weeks, we can reorient ourselves, so it can also be an opportunity for both sides. We were ultimately in agreement.
Brandt, 29, has been a creative force during his time in Germany, known for his vision, technical quality and ability to unlock defences with incisive passing. Operating primarily as an attacking midfielder but also capable of playing in wide roles, the German international has consistently contributed goals and assists throughout his career.
For CHELSEA, the opportunity to sign an experienced playmaker on a free transfer could be particularly appealing. Chelsea has built a young and dynamic squad in recent seasons, but adding experienced depth could prove important as the club looks to compete on multiple fronts.
The Blues are aiming to remain competitive in the Premier League title race while also pushing deep into European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League. A player with Brandt’s creativity and experience could provide valuable squad rotation and tactical flexibility during a long campaign.
Brandt’s availability on a free transfer is expected to attract attention from several top European clubs looking to strengthen their squads without paying a transfer fee. As the summer window approaches, CHELSEA may look to add Brandt to the side in order to add some much needed experience to the side.
