Since becoming Chelsea’s new owner in the summer of 2022, Todd Boehly has gone through plenty of different managers, including Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter.
In the four years he has owned Chelsea, eight different managers have been in the dugout, including some interim spells. Tuchel was sacked shortly after Boehly’s arrival, replaced by Brighton’s Potter.
But the now-Sweden gaffer was sacked. Interim spells under Bruno Saltor and Frank Lampard came before the appointment of Pochettino, who lasted in charge until Enzo Maresca came in, in 2024.
Whenever Boehly pulls the trigger on Rosenior, who are YOU hiring? 😤
Terry would love Fabregas…
The Conference League and Club World Cup didn’t save Maresca from Boehly’s axe, and after Calum McFarlane had the job for two games, Liam Rosenior came in. One of those could become Madrid boss.
Real Madrid add Mauricio Pochettino to managerial list
For once, under Rosenior, there feels like an element of stability. A manager who appreciates winning is required short-term, but there is also a long-term project and a sense of new identity at play.
Whether Boehly allows that to play out, who knows. But for now, Rosenior is doing an impressive job, winning 10 of his 15 games in all competitions. But Boehly may live to regret his sacking of Pochettino.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid have identified Pochettino as a possible candidate to eventually replace Xabi Alonso. For now, Alvaro Arbeloa is taking the side on an interim basis until the end of the season.
Pochettino is preparing to manage the United States, who will be one of three home nations at the 2026 World Cup. But after that, the Argentine is up for grabs, with Tottenham also said to be a possible suitor.
Who else is on Real Madrid’s shortlist alongside Poch?
Jurgen Klopp once said that he would only return to management if it was with Liverpool. But there is every chance that the current global head of football at RedBull could be tempted by Madrid’s lure.
Joao Pedro is the BEST signing of the Todd Boehly era 💵
At £60m, he seems to be a bit of a bargain!
ESPN also claim Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, once touted with the Chelsea hotseat, could also be approached to replace Alonso and Arbeloa. Current AC Milan manager Max Allegri is also an option.
But just two years after leaving Chelsea, to see the manager sacked become Real Madrid’s new boss would be damning for Boehly and vindication for Pochettino. The World Cup, though, comes first.
