Originally entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa, Welch worked his way onto the Packers roster through persistence and strong special teams play. His ability to contribute in multiple roles helped him remain a valuable option whenever the team needed depth at linebacker.
During his time with Green Bay, Welch has built a reputation as a dependable contributor in the kicking game. Coaches have consistently relied on his effort, discipline and familiarity with the system to help stabilize special teams units.

The Packers re-signed linebacker Kristian Welch to a one-year deal, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
Welch, who turns 28 next month, is a Wisconsin native who played for the Packers in 2023 and last season.
The one year agreement also provides additional depth for the team’s linebacker group as the team prepares for another competitive season. While younger players may handle most of the defensive snaps, Welch’s experience and knowledge of the scheme offer valuable support behind the starters.
Welch now returns to an organization where he has repeatedly found opportunities to extend his career. As the franchise moves forward with their preparations for the new season, his presence adds experience and reliability to the roster.
