Sunderland are among a growing list of Premier League clubs keeping close tabs on Millwall winger Femi Azeez ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to TEAMtalk, the Black Cats have been scouting the in-form attacker in recent weeks as interest begins to build across the top flight. Sunderland are believed to be joined by Everton, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Leeds United in tracking the 23-year-old’s progress.
However, Crystal Palace are understood to be among the clubs showing the strongest early interest as they assess potential attacking reinforcements. Azeez has impressed since joining Millwall in August 2024 following a permanent move from Reading. The winger arrived at The Den for a substantial undisclosed fee after scoring 11 goals in 89 appearances during his time with the Royals.
He made his Millwall debut shortly after completing the transfer, appearing in a goalless draw against Hull City. Azeez quickly made his mark at his new club, most notably scoring a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Sunderland in November. The winger’s rise has been far from straightforward. Azeez began his youth career with Watford but was released at the age of 14 before continuing his development in non-league football.
After joining Northwood, he impressed enough to make his senior debut at just 16 years old in the eighth tier of English football. He later moved to Wealdstone, where he continued to develop his reputation as an exciting attacking prospect. Azeez’s performances eventually earned him a move into the academy at Reading in 2019. His early time with the club was challenging, and he was sent on loan to Bracknell Town in 2020 to gain first-team experience.
He went on to make his senior debut for Reading in March 2021, coming off the bench in a victory over Sheffield Wednesday. Later that year, he scored his first professional goal in a 2-1 win against Preston North End. Azeez gradually established himself as a key player for Reading and was particularly influential during the 2023-24 campaign, making 52 appearances and scoring eight goals as the club fought to secure their League One status following a points deduction.

Reading activated a one-year contract extension in May 2024, keeping him at the club until 2025, before Millwall moved to secure his services later that summer. His form in the Championship has now caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, with Sunderland believed to be closely monitoring the winger’s progress.
Still only 23, Azeez also has an intriguing international background. Born in England and raised in Northwood, he has Nigerian heritage through his father and Spanish roots through his mother. With multiple top-flight clubs tracking his development, the coming months could prove decisive as interest grows in one of the Championship’s emerging attacking talents.
