Everton have been told exactly what it will take to sign a former Chelsea player who they've identified as a top target this summer, according to a report.
Everton make summer transfer plans after impressive campaign
The blueprint for Moyes' second summer at Everton is already being drawn up, and it is considerably more ambitious than the firefighting operation he oversaw 12 months ago.
Back then, the Scot arrived at a club in near-freefall, inheriting a squad that needed wholesale surgery and a fanbase desperately craving stability. He delivered both.

Moyes has channelled that energy into a Premier League campaign that genuinely has European football within its sights.
This summer, the thinking is expansive rather than reactive.
Full-back is understood to be the most pressing priority.
Nathan Patterson, barely trusted by Moyes all season and missing large chunks due to injury, could reportedly be sold to generate funds, with Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza — a free agent in the summer — identified as one potential right-sided solution.

Everton now keeping close tabs on Bundesliga star who's already been scouted by Brighton
The Toffees have joined the race.
On the opposite flank, Wolves' Hugo Bueno has attracted interest, though Everton's ability to promise European football will likely determine whether they can fend off competition from clubs already guaranteed a continental berth.
A new centre-back is also likely to be addressed, given Michael Keane's contract expires in the summer and Jarrad Branthwaite has spent stretches of the campaign filling in at left-back rather than operating in his natural position.
According to other reports, Liam Delap is firmly on Everton's radar too — after snubbing the Toffees last summer to join Chelsea from Ipswich.
The ex-Man City starlet has struggled to nail down a starting place at Stamford Bridge, and Moyes apparently views him as a genuine long-term option through the middle should Beto move on.

Across the wide areas, Jack Grealish's situation remains complex — Everton would dearly love to keep the 31-year-old beyond his loan spell, but the £50 million buy option and his reported wage demands make a permanent deal difficult, alongside his injury.
A second successive loan is a possibility being actively explored.
The Edon Zhegrova pursuit has also resurfaced, with Italian media suggesting Juventus would now be receptive to selling the former Lille winger after blocking Everton's advances in both windows last year.
Amid all of that activity, a name from Serie A has quietly emerged as another serious target.
Everton identify Cesare Casadei as a primary summer target
According to Sports Boom, Everton really want Cesare Casadei — the Italian midfielder who left Chelsea for Torino in February 2025 and has since forced his way into the senior Italy squad under Gennaro Gattuso.

Indeed, Everton are said to have identified Casadei as a 'primary target' for the summer.
The report identifies a clear tactical rationale for their serious interest, noting that Everton's midfield lacks the kind of aerial presence and physicality that Casadei provides.
At 6 foot 3, the former Chelsea man has won aerial duels at a rate of 67 per cent in Serie A this season, and his ability to function both as a defensive anchor and a box-to-box operator gives managers the kind of positional flexibility that Moyes prizes.
This has been echoed by ex-Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca previously, who called him a 'very big' and 'physically strong' asset to have.
West Ham are also keeping close tabs on the Italian as well, with their scouts having watched Torino on three occasions in recent weeks alone.
Torino hold a strong negotiating position — Casadei's contract runs to 2029 — but both the Hammers and Moyes' side have been told an offer of up to £45 million would blow European rivals out of the water.
A Chelsea sell-on clause further complicates the financial picture and is part of the reason Torino are unlikely to drop their valuation.
Whether Everton's summer budget stretches to a deal of that magnitude will depend partly on what happens between now and May. European qualification, which is increasingly achievable, changes everything.
