“So I think that’s why the FA Cup is the best cup in the world. And when I’m seeing teams rest players all the time, and especially teams who aren’t in Europe and they don’t need to, it’s an opportunity,” said Rooney.
“We saw it last year at Crystal Palace, going to win the FA Cup. In 1995 it gave me my best moment as a fan. I just think it’s a shame.”
The Toffees famously beat Manchester United in the 1995 final in what has proven the club’s last piece of silverware.
