Liam Rosenior explains what Joao Pedro is doing differently under him compared to Enzo Maresca

Since replacing Enzo Maresca as Chelsea manager, Liam Rosenior has really managed to get a tune out of Joao Pedro.

The striker is in terrific form right now, scoring 11 goals in his last 12 appearances. Pedro is now on course to score 20 goals in the Premier League.

Ahead of Chelsea’s clash away at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Rosenior has explained what the 24-year-old is now doing differently.

Liam Rosenior says Joao Pedro is now getting into goalscoring positions at Chelsea

This season, Pedro has played as a No.10 at times and has dropped deep when playing as a No.9.

However, of late, the Brazilian has been getting into areas where it is easier to score, according to his manager.

In an interview with TNT Sports, it was highlighted that Pedro’s shots per game average under Rosenior has gone up compared to what it was under Maresca.

Speaking about that increase, Rosenior said: “I think Joao is now in areas where he is in a position to score goals, and I think that’s been a brilliant, brilliant adaptation for him.”

In total, Pedro has scored 18 goals this season, so the Brazil international will definitely hit 20 across all competitions.

In the Champions League, he has netted three times in six outings, which includes a brace against Napoli. Chelsea fans will now be hoping that he can add to it when the Blues face PSG on Wednesday night.

Joao Pedro’s record under Liam Rosenior compared to record under Enzo Maresca

Pedro has scored more goals under Rosenior than he did under Maresca and in fewer games.

Since Rosenior’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, Pedro has played 13 games and scored 11 goals. During Maresca’s tenure, he scored 10 goals in 27 outings, and three of those strikes came last season at the Club World Cup.

Rosenior has transformed Pedro. Under him, the former Brighton & Hove Albion man has become one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League.

After Cole Palmer, Pedro has been the best attacking signing that Chelsea have made under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
