Draymond Green #23 of the Golden State Warriors complains about a call during the second half of their game against the Chicago Bulls at Chase Center on March 10, 2026 in San Francisco, California.
The Golden State Warriors dropped their third straight game on Tuesday when they suffered a heartbreaking 130-124 overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls. Draymond Green, who was a -19 on the floor, is facing a lot of criticism for a late mistake in regulation that essentially cost the Warriors the game.
With 1.4 seconds left and the Warriors leading 118-116, Green committed a bizarre foul on Jalen Smith, who sank both his free throws to send the game into overtime. The four-time NBA champion was called for a foul when he made an aggressive closeout on Smith, who was off balance and in no position to attempt a three. Luckily for the Warriors, Green was not assessed a shooting foul, as that would have meant three free throws for the Bulls and a possible win before the extra five-minute period.

It’s worth noting that Green made two other late-game gaffes in the Warriors’ previous two losses against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz.
In Monday’s 119-116 loss in Utah, Green was late to close out on Blake Hinson’s three, which gave the Jazz a 116-113 cushion with 29.2 seconds left in regulation.
Similarly, during last Saturday’s 104-97 loss to the shorthanded Thunder, Green, on an island against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, allowed the reigning MVP to rise for a stepback three that gave OKC a 102-97 lead with 42.4 seconds left.
While it’s clearly unfair to blame Green for all of the team’s problems, Warriors fan Jim Park broke down Green’s recent gaffes in an X post, while urging head coach Steve Kerr to consider bringing the veteran forward off the bench.
“It’s time for Steve Kerr to stop “coaching” this team with “feelings” and acknowledge Draymond’s defense is no longer reliable for this team,” wrote the fan.
“Draymond should not be closing games, and his role must be heavily curtailed. He is a literal handicap for this team. Sad that his demise has developed so quickly, but this is where we are. His time as a winning player is over.”

Time For Warriors to Move On?
Amid the heavy criticism, Green recently sent a stern message to his critics.
“To the real Warriors fans who don’t feel that way, thank you,” Green said on the “Unguarded” podcast, while addressing fans who want him traded.
“To the ones who do feel that way, you were a loser before I got here,” Green continued. “A [expletive] stone cold forever losers! If you say that, it makes sense to me. You never been here.”
Green also declared that the Warriors’ dynasty would have never happened without him being Stephen Curry’s sidekick.
“Steph Curry is the man. There’s not a person in this world that feels more strongly about that than I do,” he stressed. “But Michael Jordan had Scottie Pippen. MJ had Dennis Rodman. I would never be a Steve Jobs. That’s Steph Curry, but I can say this with pride, that thing doesn’t get built without me.”
Green was reportedly offered to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of last month’s NBA trade deadline. Per multiple insiders, Green, who owns a player option for 2026-27, could be on another team next year.
