Man City have not shown any interest in reviving their move for Newcastle fullback Tino Livramento, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been tipped to table a bid in the region of £60m to £70m this summer, with the defender stalling on a new contract. However, speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that the Cityzens haven’t even talked to Livramento’s agent since last year.

“On Tino Livramento, what I’m told today is that there is nothing ongoing. Zero, no negotiations, no conversations.”

“Tino Livramento was a top target one year ago. There was no agreement. And since that moment, we are talking about probably June/July 2025, my understanding is Manchester City didn’t return to negotiate with Newcastle or with Tino Livramento’s agents.”

“So, at this stage, the player is appreciated, yes, already one year ago they wanted him. But now, in terms of negotiations, I’m not aware of anything advanced, but not even anything concrete. I think Manchester City are assessing several options.”

Man City do want a new right-back

While Livramento may not be a priority at the moment, it looks like Director of Football Hugo Viana will be aiming to bring in reinforcements for the right-hand side of defence over the coming months.

As Romano mentions, the club appear to be looking at a number of different options, but they haven’t settled on their top target.

Who are the alternatives to Livramento?

Three names have been mentioned consistently. Feyenoord’s Givairo Read is a player who has actually been linked with a move to the Etihad by Romano previously, although many feel Bayern Munich are favourites for the Dutchman’s signature.

Roma wingback Wesley is another name that has been suggested, while Viana could return to his old club, Sporting Lisbon, to buy Ivan Fresneda. City, Arsenal and Newcastle are said to be tracking the Spaniard.
