A look at the early injury news surrounding Tottenham and Liverpool ahead of their Premier League date.
Tottenham are back in premier League action on Sunday after being on the wrong end of a shellacking against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Interim boss Igor Tudor remains winless, or even drawless, and the stakes are high in the Premier League, with Spurs only a point above the drop.
Liverpool also lost in the Champions League during the week, losing 1-0 to Galatasaray, and they also lost their last Premier League clash, against Wolves, though they have since beaten the West Midlands side in the FA Cup.
Here we round up the latest injury news surrounding both sides going into this one.
Conor Bradley - Out
Bradley is out for the season having undergone surgery on a serious knee issue.
Giovanni Leoni - Out
Leoni is in a similar situation having suffered a ruptured ACL at an earlier date.
Wataru Endo - Out
Endo is out for the season. Slot confirmed recently: “I’ve heard that he had surgery. I’ve heard that it went well, but I don’t know the details... The plan is for him to be ready in time for the World Cup, so the rehab process from surgery onwards is being considered. In order to play in the World Cup, he, the club, and we all share the same understanding.”
Alexander Isak - Out
Isak is looking at an April return. Slot said last month: “Alex has been on the pitch with his running shoes for the first time this week, so it will still be a while... The next step is doing work with the ball, and then going into the group - it takes a while before you're ready to play. Let's not put a timescale on it, but it's clear he will be available if things go as planned this season.”
Federico Chiesa - Doubt
Chiesa will have a chance of returning here. Slot said ahead of the Galatasary: “Federico was not in the session, he felt unwell last night, so that's why he wasn't training with us today and not travelling with us..”
Alisson Becker - Doubt
Alisson is in a similar situation after missing the Galatasary clash. Slot said before that game: “Ali, of course, was in the session - as many people could see - but unfortunately, he felt something towards the end of the session, and we decided together that it wasn't good enough to play tomorrow. And then it's of no use travelling.”
Wilson Odobert - Out
Odobert is out for the season. It has been confirmed: “We can confirm that Wilson Odobert has sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee... Wilson will see a specialist next week before undergoing surgery, and will then commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff.”
Destiny Udogie - Doubt
Udogie will be racing against time to return here, but the game may yet come too soon for him.
Lucas Bergvall - Out
Frank said before his departure: “Unfortunately, Lucas picked up an ankle injury, so we keep being very unlucky with injuries, and it looks like it could be a longer one. He's been assessed over these two days, so [in terms of a return] timeframe, I'll know more about the next couple of days.” Bergvall is expected to be out until around mid-April.
Ben Davies - Out
Davies has undergone ankle surgery and will be absent until some time in April.
Rodrigo Bentancur - Out
Bentancur has undergone surgery on his right hamstring and he will be absent until at least after the March international break.
Mohammed Kudus - Out
Kudus has been ruled out for months with a hamstring issue. Frank confirmed: “Mohammed, unfortunately, is a bigger one to the tendon in the quad. That is one where we expect him back after the March international break.”
Dejan Kulusevski - Out
Tudor said recently: “He's had really big problems as you know, but he's positive and also the doctors are positive, so we'll see next week how he’s going. We hope [he can play this season]. In this moment, we don't know.”
James Maddison - Out
Maddison is out for much - if not all - of the season with a knee injury. Frank said in December: “It's very early stages. It's still a long-term injury, so it's good to see him out there, but very early stages. There's no specific time frame. It will be a long time, unfortunately, before he's available.”
