Joao Pedro's form comes as little surprise to one of his ex-teammates, who said he always had the belief that he could reach the top.
The Chelsea attacker is enjoying the best purple patch of his career, having scored 11 goals in only 13 appearances under Liam Rosenior.

The 24-year-old has already surpassed the seven goals he managed for Enzo Maresca following his £60million switch from Brighton.
He netted Chelsea's fourth in their 4-2 FA Cup win over Wrexham on Saturday, which came days after bagging his first Blues hat-trick.
Rosenior, who has labelled the Brazil international 'world class' and said he wouldn't swap him for anyone, first saw Joao Pedro up close during the pair's respective tenures in the Championship.
His stint as Hull City boss saw him manage against Chelsea's No.20 for the first time during a goalless draw with Watford in December 2022.

On that day, Joao Pedro was joined in the Hornets' attack by Udinese's main man Keinan Davis, who was on loan from Aston Villa.
The pair played 25 times together at Vicarage Road in the '22/23, and Davis was in no doubt about the levels his ex-teammate could reach.
'Top person' Joao Pedro wouldn't surprise ex-teammate with Arsenal transfer
In fact, the 28-year-old admitted he wouldn't even be surprised if Joao Pedro emulated Kai Havertz in moving across London to Premier League leaders Arsenal.
"Yeah, for sure [you could see it]," he exclusively told talkSPORT.com. "You're gonna see in training his quality.
"Even playing with him, he's Brazilian, so he's just got that flair and belief in himself that he knows he's a very good player.

"He's a good guy as well," Davis continued to talkSPORT.com. "He's not disrespectful or anything like that; he's just a top person.
"So yeah, you could definitely see that you can move on to make big steps.
"To see him at Chelsea now is like...Even if he went to Arsenal or something like that, I wouldn't be surprised; he's very good."
On paper, that Watford side now boasts the richest attacking talent in Europe, with Ismaïla Sarr also part of a team that began that season under now-Wolves manager, Rob Edwards.
Crystal Palace talisman Sarr exceeded his goal tally from last season with his double against Tottenham, in 839 fewer minutes.
Davis, meanwhile, moved up to second in the race for the Serie A golden boot after scoring two goals in as many games last week.

He is now a hugely popular figure in both Udinese's dressing room and among the fans
The England youth international's nine league strikes in Italy are two clear of the total tally he managed during his difficult Watford loan.
"Obviously, when I went there, I was thinking, 'yeah, we're going to have a good opportunity to go up'," Davis added to talkSPORT.
"Hamza Choudhury was there as well. We had a lot of great players.
"I don't know, it just didn't work. Maybe, Ismaïla Sarr, he got to a stage where he's been in the Premier League, he's gone down, he's gone back up. Maybe he wanted to leave that year.
"Joao was on the rise. Joao was a top player. So, I think it's just kind of a crossroads of a lot of different stuff.
"Obviously, I got promoted at Nottingham Forest, and when I went to Watford, that wasn't my first choice to go to Watford."

Keinan Davis: 'I was a bit immature at Watford'
"So, I think I was a bit immature, and I was just a bit in my own head thinking, like I thought I'd be somewhere else, honestly," he added.
"So, yeah, it was just kind of this; that year was definitely on me. Even when people ask me, 'How was it?' my response would be, I was a bit immature in the beginning, and you can't go into a season like that and then expect things to go well. So, I took full responsibility for how I approached going into it.
"Throughout the season, you speak to your friends and your family, but at the end of the season, you reflect, and then I just knew how I approached it, I can't do that because no one cares.
"You can't feel sorry for yourself. You can't expect this. That's just not how it works.
"You've got to put your head down and do what you have to do and prove it. That season, I didn't."

'Modern striker' Keinan Davis 'has everything'
However, this season, Davis is more than proving it at Udinese, and is just one goal away from being the joint second-highest scoring Englishman playing in one of Europe's top-five leagues.
"For sure, this is his best season since he's been playing for Udinese," his manager Kosta Runjaić told talkSPORT.com.
"He struggled the first season, and even the second season, he had some injuries, so he couldn't get into the rhythm.

Davis is only one goal behind the second-highest scoring Englishman in Europe's top-five leagues
"And now, this season, he's playing a very important role inside the team, scoring goals, but not only about this, he's working hard for the team, he's able to keep the ball, a very skilful player. And a player who makes a difference.
"He's still, for me, a very young player, a very young striker, and we'll see what the future will bring.

"He's a very modern striker; he has everything.
"He has speed, technical skills, he has a good perception on the pitch, he's a good finisher. So he just needs games, and he needs to play to get the rhythm, to become really physically strong."
